How Rust prices work
Every item is priced from its Steam Community Market sales and refreshed daily. Items that barely sell use up to a year of sales, and items with big price swings get an "unstable" tag.
What makes a Rust skin worth more
Rust skins have no float or pattern. Every skin with the same name is identical, so the Market price fits all of them. Value comes down to supply and demand:
- Store rotation. Most skins are in the Item Store for one week. After that the Market is the only source, and popular ones climb.
- Age. Early skins like the Big Grin facemask and the Tempered line are scarce and among the priciest in the game.
- What it skins. The AK, MP5, Thompson, metal facemask, doors, garage doors and large boxes get used every wipe, so their skins are in the highest demand.
Twitch drops don't count
Twitch drops are account-bound: you can't trade them or sell them on the Market, so they stay out of your total. Same for anything else marked not tradable.
Steam Market price vs. cash
Market prices include Steam's fee and the game fee, so selling there nets you less, paid as Steam Wallet funds you can't withdraw. Cash sites set their own prices.
